South of...what? Huh? Can you give me your name again?
Are you Ed? Who is Ed?

 

"What's with the name?" is a common question we hear. With the creative backbone that has made South of Ed Designs a success, our founder/designer/production manager and delivery man at the time wanted a name for the company that was unique because the original business name was legally challenged by a larger media organization in the Denver area. So instead of a legal fight that we couldn't afford, a new name was needed.

 

Our founder at the time had just moved into a new neighborhood and was working out of a bedroom of his new house when he had been contemplating a new business name with friends and family over a modest cocktail (or two...) when he told his friends about his new neighbor, Ed. Ed was not your typical neighbor. Ed had just turned 80 years old at the time but maintained his youthfulness in behavior and spirit. This was probably due to his love of working in his vegetable garden while sipping on Jim Beam throughout the day. Our founder at the time lived one house "South of Ed". So there it happened, South of Ed Designs was born!

 

So not to leave a wrong impression of Ed, Ed was also solely responsible for training our founders dog Abby (a German Shepard/Pit Bull) how to "sit." We believe Ed achieved this dog training excellence by utilizing left over plates of spaghetti that he would spoon feed over the fence to Abby. Although no picture evidence is around, it was witnessed on more then several occasions.
